Taiwan ¨C Prices for 15in and 20in LCD TV panels are forecast to increase amid the rise in demand and the scant output of small-sized LCD panels. The 15in segment will likely see an increase of $5 to $115, makers said.
The price of the 20in line has already gone up. Mainland China's BOE Optoelectronics has already started offering models at $165, up by $3 from the current average quote. Taiwan makers of LCD panels are expected to adjust their prices soon.
Prices for the 32in line, meanwhile, are expected to remain at present levels despite previous price hike forecasts. Makers noted that panel suppliers find it difficult to raise prices for major clients in the short run. The average selling price of 32in panels dropped by $10 from the latter half of July to the first half of August, and remained stable until the end of August, according to market research firm WitsView Technology.
